An Osteopath is a primary health care professional and should be registered with a professional body. In Ireland the governing body is the Osteopathic Council of Ireland.
Osteopaths are manual therapists. Osteopaths use an evidence based scientific approach to formulate a diagnosis, which, is directed by the case history. After a diagnosis is formed the treatment evolves around a hands on manual approach, education and rehabilitation. The goal of treatment is to restore function and resolve symptoms.
